Diabetes UK Brighton Voluntary Group Diary
Here are some dates to remember - if you would like to attend any of the events, please just come along. Please contact us if you would like to take part in any of the sponsored events.
Tuesday 23rd September - Tour of the Masonic Centre
Reg Barrow from The Sussex Masonic Centre has very kindly arranged for a guided tour of the centre for the diabetes group, where visitors will have a chance to learn more about the history of the masons and have any burning questions answered. No membership is necessary and the event will be free, starting at 10:30am. Please contact us via the link above to register your interest and our thanks go to Reg for this opportunity..
Tuesday 14th and Wednesday 15th October - Fundraising Print Sale
Following the success of the previous two Print Sales, The New Madeira Hotel in Brighton has kindly allowed the group to use their lounge area to sell top-quality prints at heavily discounted prices. Items include works by Monet, Andy Warhol and even Disney and movie prints! The sale will be open from 11am-4pm, with no obligation to buy!
Tuesday 21st October - BME Elders Information Day - awareness
The Diabetes Group will be manning a stand at the Black and Minority Ethnic Elders Information Day at Hove Town Hall, which allows us to raise awareness of diabetes much further afield in our community and to a wider audience. We urgently need volunteers for this and would appreciate any help, even if it's just for a short period of time. Please Contact Us if you think you can help out.
Date TBC - Chessington World of Adventures Trip
In time for the autumn half-term, the group has managed to obtain two-for-the-price-of-one tickets to go to Chessington World of Adventures for the day. We will also subsidise the cost so that the day is open to as many as possible. If you've never been before, Chessington is home to various attractions for all the family, including rollercoasters and other fun and games. Whether you're young or just young at heart and would like to go, please get in touch!
Tuesday 11th November - PALS - Patient Advice and Liaison talk
PALS is the local NHS service that deals with user feedback and complaints and is the gateway to voicing any concerns or queries you have about the NHS. Jane Bolding from PALS will speak about the service at this evening event, so if you have ever wanted to know how to make a complaint, help with resolving concerns or request information on available NHS and community services, then this talk will provide the answers. Admission is FREE and we'll start at 7:30pm at The New Madeira Hotel, Brighton.
