Young Adults' Group Indoor Rock Climbing

The last place you want to be on a cold day in February is stuck half-way up a forty foot wall, knowing that even when you get to the top you have to take the plunge and fall down. Fortunately, although nothing could be done about the latter, the Young Adults' Group opted for a slightly warmer alternative - taking the challenge indoors at the Adur Outdoor Centre's indoor climbing wall.

Located just between Shoreham and Lancing, the centre is home to the forty-foot indoor crag, which includes climbs of varying difficulties, some of which were easily conquered and others not so! After getting all harnessed-up, the basics of belaying was explained to ensure that everyone was safe when climbing and soon people were attacking the walls with avengeance!

The opportunity to try an activity completely out of the ordinary was enough for some, whereas it was a chance to air others' competitive streaks!! And whoever said you'd need sensible shoes (ie, trainers!) for climbing hadn't reckoned with Sabine's skill, precision and general knack for climbing!

Our thanks to everyone at Adur Outdoor Centre, especially to Tony who guided everyone through their climbs, belays and pushed everyone to their absolutely limits. What followed was aching limbs and muslces, but it was all worth it!!
