About the Diabetes UK Brighton Voluntary Group Website

We are an ever-growing, friendly group of volunteers from in and around the Brighton area who offer a supportive network to people living with Diabetes - ranging from Type 1 to Type 2, the young and the old, the newly-diagnosed and the family and friends of those with the condition.
Our aim - to bring people together
We strongly believe that to successfully manage diabetes on a day to day basis, we need the best possible support and information. We also believe that people who know first hand what it is like to live with diabetes are often in the best position to pass on information from their own personal experience, to help others affected by the condition. This is what our Brighton Diabetes Group is all about.
Our aim is to organise social events and activities which provide opportunities for people to share experiences, concerns, problems - and hopefully solutions too! We cannot offer medical advice, psychlogical counselling or professional therapy, but we can put you in touch with others going through a similar situation for mutual support and understanding.
Chances to meet up
Go to our Events page to find out what's going on in 2010 Diary and to have a look at our past activities.
Our bi-monthly General Meetings provide a venue for us all to come together to discuss topics and exchange views and ideas. All are welcome (whatever your age!) in particular if you are newcomer. If you'd like to join us at our next meeting, please contact us.
If you feel you've got some time on your hands and some energy to spare, we are always seeking new people to support us - so whether you can help fundraise, socialise or just chat to someone who is in a similar situation, please get in touch.
To learn more about the people who plan and organise our events go to our committee page.
PLEASE NOTE: We are not qualified to give medical advice in any way. If you need medical assistance please contact your diabetes consultant, GP, specialist nurse or speak to NHS Direct.
